| (CBS) TEMPLE CITY, Calif. A San Gabriel boy, 17, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Temple City, authorities said Thursday.
I came home late yesterday from Ben Chen's birthday party but I wasn’t allowed to go back into my house. My entire block was taped off and barricaded by police cars. It basically happened right outside of my house. The kid was a student my high school. My friends Kevin, Peter and Wesley drove by my street around 11 and believe they saw the person right before he died.
The shooting occurred in the 5700 block of Golden West Avenue at 11:12 p.m. Wednesday, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Denise Fuchs said.
Witnesses told detectives that the teen and two other people were walking south on Golden West Avenue when people in a car headed in the opposite direction began firing at them, Fuchs said.
Deandre Eugene Netter, who was shot in the upper body, was taken to a hospital, where he died, Fuchs said. Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
